Common Questions

FAQ

How long does new concrete take to cure?
Concrete is walkable within 24–48 hours and driveable within 7 days for standard passenger vehicles. Full structural cure takes 28 days. Keep heavy equipment off new slabs for at least a week and avoid sealing for 30 days.
Do you handle demo of existing concrete?
Yes — full demolition and removal in-house. We break out the old slab, haul it away, grade the base, and prep for the new pour ourselves. No subbing it out.
Do you pull permits for concrete work?
Most residential flatwork in San Diego County doesn't require a permit. Work near property lines, retaining walls, or anything affecting drainage may. We'll tell you upfront and walk you through it.
What's the difference between stamped and broom finish?
Broom finish drags a broom across fresh concrete for texture and grip — most common and budget-friendly. Stamped uses rubber molds pressed into wet concrete to mimic stone, brick, or slate. Premium look at a fraction of the cost of real stone.
Why is my concrete cracking?
Hairline cracks are normal — concrete shrinks as it cures. That's why we cut control joints into every slab: intentional weak points that guide cracks into straight lines. Wide, deep, or displacing cracks indicate a base problem and are a different issue entirely.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in San Diego?
Broom-finish flatwork in San Diego County typically runs $8–$14 per square foot installed. Stamped concrete runs $15–$25+ depending on pattern and color. We provide free, no-obligation estimates so you know exactly what you're getting before any commitment.
How long will the job take?
A standard driveway or patio takes 1–2 days to form and pour, plus cure time. Stamped work or jobs with demo take longer. We give you a realistic timeline at the estimate stage and communicate throughout — no surprises.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Ordonez Quality Concrete holds California C-8 Concrete Contractor license #1123160, verified through the CSLB. We carry full general liability and active workers' compensation insurance. Proof available before work begins — just ask.
